In August’s INTERACT Journal, I briefly alluded to a sample application that Microsoft presented to the TechEd delegates to illustrate their ‘best practice’ application architecture, for building loosely-coupled systems based on BizTalk messages. This application was presented and dissected over a number of sessions, and is the subject of this article. As I hinted at in the interviews with Microsoft presenters, I felt that what was being presented as an architecture was too complex, and involved too many BackOffice products for me to class it as an elegant approach. However, it worked, it could be done with existing products and sample code, which meant that delegates could go home with the building blocks ready-built. Before I present the architecture overview, a few words about the essential requirements of the system . . |
