| Abstract: | A critical review of Rapid Application Development (RAD) and a proposal for component-based RAD process, based on very recent practical project experience. Over the last decade, RAD has slowly become accepted as an alternative to traditional waterfall engineering for client/server development. With its emphasis on user-involvement and empowerment, it is the thesis of this paper that the pendulum has been allowed to swing much too far in the direction of ‘rapid’ and ‘user-driven’ at the expense of ‘well-engineered’ and ‘adaptable’. | ||
