Report Summary
Title: Transaction Explosion
Author: Lawrence WIlkes
Publication Date: 1 November 1999
Report Type:
Abstract: This report examines some of the new generators of transactions and strategies for coping with the demand. There seems no shortage of evidence that the volumes of e-commerce transactions are going to grow significantly. However, the number of transactions with end customers is just the tip of the iceberg, compared with the number of near real-time transactions that must be made with core operations systems, and across the entire supply chain, if you are to avoid getting swamped in the backlog created by trying to deal with customers’ e-commerce requests using current approaches.
