Abstract: Understanding Business Needs SIG Report A Report from the ‘Understanding Business Needs’ SIG that met on 14 October 1999. The ‘Understanding Business Needs’ SIG, has met several times this year. The October meeting was an opportunity for core members of the SIG, to share their thinking. Held in Birmingham, UK, there was a good crowd, and everyone agreed that interpreting the real needs of the business is the most difficult thing that IT professionals have to do. Why Are we Having Difficulty in Defining Business Requirements? Paul Winstone and Andrew Williams from Eutech, an ICI related company, addressed the issue of: "Why are we having difficulty in defining business requirements?"
