XML – The Future for EDI? Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) has now been widely used for many years. Actually, this is a very broad phrase, and the use of the term EDI is more commonly used to describe the more specific exchange of data, using messages defined by the United Nations Standard Messages Directory for Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport, or EDIFACT for short.
