| Abstract: | Recently, I had occasion to meet with a CIO who said he was implementing a component based architecture. He explained that he was buying several application packages from various disparate sources and integrating them. I noted that none of the packages mentioned were yet publishing an interface structure. The strategy for this particular organisation is to buy not build, and involves a timescale that does not allow any time for ‘wait and see’.
