| Abstract: |
CBDI has consistently advised on the importance of Software Development Asset Management to support Component Based Development and Service Oriented Architecture. In the federated development environment the separation between service providers and service consumers needs automated asset lifecycle management to ensure that requirements for business and IT governance are met across all participants. In this report we take a closer look at LogicLibrary, one of the pioneers of software asset management whose product Logidex has evolved to support SOA and now offers improved governance capabilities. |
| Backgrounder: |
Most organizations now treat software as an asset from a fiscal point of view. But how many manage their software assets as carefully as they manage their physical assets? Organizations that have embraced component and service based development understand that a critical aspect of the management task is to create metadata about the software artifacts that ensures that the component is properly classified in a way that facilitates assembly and managed reuse. Without that information the best laid plans of architects, mice and men will be worthless and unmanageable. |
