Title: Best Practice Report - Implementing Context Driven Services
Author: Richard Veryard
Publication Date: 28 June 2002
Report Type: Journal
Abstract: Nearly two years ago, the CBDi Forum introduced the notion of Differentiated Service, or the alternative title "fewer interfaces than components". Since that time, there has been considerable activity around this and similar concepts. Sun Microsystems introduced the notion of "smart services", and several web services management tools have implemented context-based behavior modification, using rules driven approaches. But all this activity seems to be implementation oriented, and in this report we discuss how you might take a more considered approach to context driven behavior, and suggest some architectural and design techniques.
