| Abstract: |
Service Component Architecture (SCA) brings the formality of SOA contracts and end point separation into the implementation layer. For the many organizations undertaking modernization efforts the standardization of componentization and SOA enablement is an important issue. Whilst its usage may not be widespread, it is likely that growing demand for rationalization of the implementation layer will lead to increased adoption. In this report we look at Service Component Architecture (SCA) and consider how it relates and maps to SoaML and provide guidance for integration into the broader SAE/SoaML picture. |
| Backgrounder: |
Service Component Architecture (SCA) has been around for some time now, with the V1.0 specification approved by OASIS in 2007. It is supported by several vendors and open source products, although its actual adoption by users could not yet be considered widespread.
Though we have mentioned SCA in passing in several reports, with the publication of SoaML this year and our work to map that to our SAE Meta Model we recognized we should also examine SCA in more detail and understand how it compares or relates to SoaML, and how it too maps to SAE. |
