| Abstract: |
A systematic approach to planning and identifying information and data services
Most of us will agree that data and information are at the heart of SOA. Yet there seems to be a widespread acceptance that information services is a class of services, a separate layer, and is supported by a particular set of platforms and tools. The wide diversity of ways we require, use and manage data and information suggests that this must be over simplistic. In this article we examine the place of data and information in the SOA and provide guidance on the architectural approach, planning and delivery processes and capabilities needed to take advantage of service oriented approach principles in data and information management.
