| Abstract: |
A demonstration of the Service Architecture and Engineering method using Archimate based on the Springfield Case Study Model
ArchiMate is an emerging Open Group standard for enterprise modeling, consisting of a generic set of language concepts designed to allow the coherent modeling of enterprise architectures. The ArchiMate Project, based at the Telematica Instituut in the Netherlands, has delivered an unambiguous set of definitions, and believes that this provides a proper basis for visualization, analysis and tooling. In this article we introduce the language and demonstrate how we can use it in combination with the SAETM methodology to integrate enterprise and service architecture. The article includes a detailed, documented case based on the Springfield Case Study Model. |
| Backgrounder: |
The emergence of ArchiMate is proceeding apace. Described1as a language for modeling, analyzing and visualizing enterprise architectures, it is currently in process to be accepted as a standard for enterprise modeling. In May 2008 ArchiMate was officially transferred to The Open Group, who state
“ArchiMate will be further developed towards an open world-class standard for enterprise architecture”.
This is significant, because to date there has been no commonly accepted way to develop and express models of business organizations, activities and information. |
