| Abstract: |
This report explains the additional uses to which business process models can be put when there is an intention to build or enhance IT systems using software services. It includes a recap of some business process-driven practices outlined in earlier reports, which help to shape the Service Portfolio Plan. It then introduces further techniques that can be applied to business process models. These are disciplines which seek finer-grained process services, and standalone capability services, which should result in a more flexible Service Portfolio Plan. |
| Backgrounder: |
Many companies prepare business process models – as a way of understanding the processes that run their organization, and to help them identify the improvements that can solve critical business issues and make the most of new opportunities. IT systems are then enhanced, integrated or rebuilt, to support the improved design of the business process. |
