Structure of this Report
We start by explaining what is meant by business capability. We provide a definition and discuss the main characteristics. We then describe the ways in which a business capability can be mapped to services within the Service Portfolio Plan.
Thirdly, we offer advice on how to identify business capabilities. Business capability can be treated as a first class concept within business modeling, along with business process, business concept, organization units and so on. We conclude by explaining the benefits of introducing the capability notion into the business modeling tool bag, and provide a template for collecting the essential properties of a business capability. |
