Rogue Wave Software, Inc. Ships StudioJ. Delivers Tightly Integrated Suite of JavaBeans(TM) Components and Classes for GUI Development, Analysis, Charting and Database Access

May 13, 1998 - Rogue Wave Software, Inc. today announced that it is shipping StudioJ, a new suite of JavaBeans components and classes that integrates best-of-breed technology from Rogue Wave and its Stingray division. In addition to being one of the most complete and flexible sets of components and classes for Java(TM) technology development, StudioJ includes full source code, which gives developers the ability to get "under the hood" and also to add customised extensions.

StudioJ offers Java technology developers a complete solution for GUI development, data analysis, charting and database access. StudioJ includes four libraries, Blend.J, Grid.J, Chart.J and DBTools.J, featuring:

  • A full set of over 45 powerful JFC and AWT GUI controls
  • Easy-to-use OO encapsulations for relational database development
  • A industrial-strength grid control with spreadsheet functionality
  • (including formula support) and support for Sun’s Java(TM) Foundation Classes
  • A powerful set of charting Beans featuring 2D, 2 1/2D and 3D chart types, overlay charts and data filters
  • Integration support between the four libraries, making new levels of interoperability available, such as tying a grid to a database, or displaying a chart inside a grid.

Pricing and Availability

StudioJ is available immediately from Rogue Wave Software. It is priced in North America at US$995 and includes full source code. Annual support is included until June 30; after that date, annual support will sell separately in North America for US$495.
