Ross Systems Introduces Component-Based Architecture in Renaissance CS 4.2 Release May 11, 1998 - Ross Systems, a leading provider of enterprise resource planning and supply chain management products, today announced a new component-based architecture will be delivered as part of its Renaissance CS 4.2 release. Renaissance CS is an advanced formula and specification based ERP/SCM system for processing manufacturing companies such as chemicals, metals, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, pulp and paper, building products and plastics. The company has close to 700 installations of its ERP product in 24 countries representing 16 languages. Renaissance CS uses an advanced component-based architecture that encapsulates logical units of code called business processes. The company has de-composed its applications into distinct application logic components. These logic components are linked to other components that form business logic flows. In non-component-based architectures, core changes to the functionality of a product generally mean considerable re-linking of modules impacted by the change. Component-based systems make this job much easier and faster. Renaissance CS Architecture The Renaissance CS architecture comprises three layers: Business processes, Enterprise Modelling and Intelligent Desktop.
