Compuware's UNIFACE First to Support IBM's TXSeries Middleware. Increased Scalability and Security Renders Component-Based Applications Enterprise-Capable March 5, 1998 Compuware Corporation today announced that UNIFACE will be the first component-based development environment to support IBM's TXSeries Encina API, enhancing the delivery of enterprise-scale, multi-tier applications. The interface to Encina will extend UNIFACE's Universal Request Broker Architecture, allowing developers to build and deploy distributed transaction- intensive systems using proven, industry application components. The UNIFACE/Encina combination will provide developers with a powerful environment to develop reliable, high-performance distributed transaction processing applications that are scalable across the enterprise. UNIFACE application components will be managed by Encina and accessible either from the Internet, UNIFACE or other applications. Application components will automatically exploit Encina's funneling, load-balancing, security and distributed transaction control capabilities to scale to support large numbers of users and large amounts of data. Developers will be able to wrap existing Encina services as components and execute them from UNIFACE applications. UNIFACE support for Encina will be delivered in the second half of 1998.
