DYNASTYS DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT TO SUPPORT MTS, COM/DCOM Integration of Microsoft COM Technology, Support for Microsoft Transaction Server Enables Developers to Easily Build and Deploy Distributed, Enterprise Applications in a Microsoft NT Environment March 9th, 1998 - Dynasty Technologies Inc. today announced it will provide seamless integration of the DYNASTY Development Environment with Microsofts COM/DCOM and Microsoft¨ Transaction Server technology. To be available later in 1998, DYNASTY version 4.0 will offer developers the ability to easily build and deploy distributed object-based applications for the Microsoft Windows¨ NT¨ environment employing COM/DCOM and/or Microsoft Transaction Server. Delivery of DYNASTY 4.0 is expected to coincide approximately with the general availability of Microsoft NT V5.0 and Microsoft Transaction Server. Assembling applications from many self-contained, distributed software objects enables developers to deliver superior functionality and performance to end users and dramatically reduces the time and expense of application maintenance. Although distributed-object technology makes these benefits possible, it also introduces a high level of complexity to the development process. Dynasty simplifies the process of developing distributed-object applications and, with this initiative, will allow developers to leverage the flexibility, scalability and industry presence of Microsoft technology. Through its complete set of Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools, DYNASTY allows developers to build, assemble and manage distributed objects without coding entire applications by hand. Once developers have specified the objects to be used, DYNASTY generates complete applications automatically in standard Microsoft C and C++ code and Microsoft SQL for Windows 95, Windows NT and for Microsoft SQL Server database technology. Since DYNASTY applications require no proprietary run-time system, these applications can be specifically generated to take advantage of native COM/DCOM and MTS features. The lack of a run-time system also enables Microsoft Windows NT servers running Microsoft SQL Server to run as fast as if they were coded in native Microsoft Visual C++. In fact, DYNASTY generated applications are compiled by Visual C++, showing the true scalability of the Microsoft platform. During the application generation process, DYNASTY will build the Microsoft Transaction Server and COM/DCOM technology into the application. COM/DCOM will efficiently manage all communication between and among the deployed application's distributed objects and Microsoft Transaction Server will ensure that all transactions are completed and recorded properly. COM/DCOM and Microsoft Transaction Server will interact with DYNASTY's shared services and any other technologies that may be incorporated in the deployed application. By leveraging the integration between DYNASTY and Microsoft, developers will be able to quickly and easily deploy and maintain reliable, scalable, high-performance business applications in a Microsoft NT enterprise environment. Finally, the lack of run-time licenses makes deploying applications across the enterprise both manageable and cost-effective. Dynasty - www.dynasty.com Back
